Let me tell you more about this famous painter. The works of Sujata Bajaj, one of India’s most famous contemporary artists. She comes from Jaipur in Rajasthan in India. The year 1988 was the turning point in Sujata’s work and in her life. She met Raza, the contemporary Indian artist in Pune and he helped her receive an invitation grant from the French government. She then enrolled at L’École Nationale Supérieure des Beaux-Arts and worked at Studio Claude Viseux. She says that monotypes are “mixed media” and that she combines all kinds of shapes and materials: torn papers, ropes, fabrics, prints and even what looks like earth or sand, or more poetically, to borrow the title from Raymond Roussel, stardust. At the same time, she worked on different art forms such as engraving, woodcut, sculpture, murals, cold ceramics, mixed media and, now, acrylic. Tribal art plays a major role in Sujata’s work even today. She has received several prestigious awards, such as the French government Scholarship (1988-1989), Bombay Art Society Award (1991), Raza Foundation Award (2003) and many others. At the exhibition of Sujata Bajaj’s paintings, you will find the very famous paintings of the world.
