Indo-French Joint workshop for high school students at Nantes on environmental protection & growth

Every year around May about 20 CBSE high school students from India & Gulf countries come together to participate in a joint Indo-French environmental protection workshop with our French partner school in Nantes in France.

Ofter these workshops take place partly in school & partly outside the school at a place like a dockyard or along the riverside or in a botanical garden.

The topics chosen may vary from waste management to river pollution & from noise pollution to global warming.

For Eg. In May 2019 students from Balbharti School ( Central Delhi ) & Manav Bharti India International School ( South Delhi ) participated in such workshop along the river side next to “Les machines de l’île” in the beautiful city of Nantes.

French & Indian students were divided into 4 groups with each group given a topic on which they have to take divergent positions.

The topic in May 2019 was as follows :

“You are inhabitants of a local region & also members of the region’s council & the council has to vote for or against the instillation of a factory in the region which has far reaching implications to the region economic as well as environmental development”.

There is a team which represents the Factory & they have to convince the locals of the region on the viability of the project environmentally & economically. The team comprising the locals are expected to pose questions which needs to be answered by the factory representatives.

In the end, the council decides by vote if the resolution is to go ahead or withdraw the instillation of the factory.

Such Indo-French joint workshops organised by Le Frehindi with our partner school in France not only helps the students to find a common participative solution to today’s real problems facing our planet but also helps them to demonstrate their skills of asking the right questions publicly as each student is given a chance to speak her or his mind.

We are in the process of preparing our next group in May 2020.
